PlasterMax over ICF “thin coat”

GigaCrete PlasterMax “thin coat” over ICF

PLASTERMAX™ “thin coat” interior ceramic cement veneer plaster is the only fire rated coating replacing gypsum board.  Many potential users of ICF systems were deterred from using ICF blocks because the only previous fire protection meeting stringent US building codes required the use of gypsum board along with all the negative issues related to these products.

GigaCrete was asked by the ICF manufacturers to create a fire rated product to allow customers who did not want to use gypsum board (drywall).  PlasterMax became this product and offers far more than just fire protection and in fact exceeds by far all the impact, indent and abuse resistance offered by even the very best “high abuse and high impact” version of gypsum board.  We continue to strive to make PlasterMax the healthiest, safest to use and apply, mold and mildew resistant, toughest interior ceramic like coating in the World.

For level III (highest) abuse resistance we recommend 3/16″ thickness and it replaces fragile 1/2″ or 5/8″ gypsum board over ICF walls and ceilings.  Tested and code approved for ICF’s to NFPA-286 code compliance by Intertek (largest materials testing agency)  this is another World’s first for GigaCrete and the entire ICF-EPS-SIP’s industries.  One thin coat is applied directly over the EPS foam and fiberglass mesh is embedded and then covered over giving about 3/16″ finished thickness.  This is known as a “one coat double back” finish.  Completed all at the same time making the installation much faster.  No more base coat and finish coats, no more moving scaffolding, only to go back with a second coat days later, this is a true one coat completed on the spot and very quickly.  Depending on the application and desired finish, the product is easy to mix and apply using conventional plaster tools and techniques. Ask us about the new polyurethane textured rollers that slip over conventional paint roller handles and textures in seconds, ready to paint faster than drywall!  Above ceilings, this method saves time and expense in cutting drywall around ducts, trusses and pipes.  No more fire taping, mudding and sanding.  Applied by stucco/plaster sprayers or hand troweled.

While the PLASTERMAX Interior Veneer Plaster System provides the ultimate in finishing of ICF construction, its application over EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) insulation sheets and also engineered panels, such as cement or fiber board, monolithic concrete and unit masonry, offers unique advantages to these conventional wall systems as well.  Important product performance features include: superior fire resistance, 0 flame spread and 0 smoke developed, no VOC emissions, extreme abrasion and improved indent resistance superior to abuse resistant gypsum board and high resistance to mold and mildew.

PLASTERMAX Interior Veneer Plaster is designed to be environmentally responsible. It emits zero pollutants, and uses less water than Portland Cement based products. PLASTERMAX plaster products exceed USEPA and California indoor air quality and VOC standards.
